Beyond growth management: A review of the wider functions and effects of urban growth management policies

Urban growth management policies (UGMPs), which include green belts and urban boundaries seek to prevent sprawl in neighbouring peri-urban rural landscapes. However, the wider social, environmental, economic impacts these have on landscapes they govern is unclear contested. This paper undertakes a structured review of academic literature Scopus investigating UGMPs functions, effects beyond sprawl.
